Yay God!!  I am also excited to announce that we will be releasing this song as the next radio single in January. What a great declaration to start the year off with. Please call your local stations and ask them to add it to their rotation. It would mean a whole lot to me….and my house! :) . When I write songs, I’m looking for what is on the heart of the Lord. I believe that God is, right this very moment, calling His beloved children out of idolatry and back to intimacy with Him. Particularly calling men to stand up, repent and renounce the counterfeit gods that have us enslaved though various addictions. (And it doesn’t have to be a chemical addiction to classify)

I asked God to give me a song that just put’s a simple exclamation point on what He desires. I wrote “As For Me and My House” because I came to a place where I was DONE  bowing down to the idol of career, success, man’s approval, and even christian music. Ofcourse those were just to name a few. This song is my stake in the ground. “Im done building my own kingdom, no more seeking worthless idols”. I had a choice to make…and I made it.  I will not serve these gods or any other gods. They will never fulfill me nor will they ever love me. I’ve known and know many men who are enslaved by idols such as money, status, pornography, pain killers, drugs, alcohol, etc.

My hope and desire is to spur on a movement of men who will stand up and say…“ENOUGH!!!!  I surrender God. I repent of my life-long paterns of sin and idolatry. I am going to be the man, the husband, and the father YOU intended me to be. I’m walking out of this prison that I built with my own hands and like Joshua, I will declare…  AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD” And we will not give our hearts to another!!

Will I be a man who spurs others on to love and good deeds?  Will I be a man of my word with unquestioned integrity? Will I be a part of others stories of redemption and healing?  I want to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to earth in 2011. Be looking out for the free download of “As For Me”, based on Joshua’s dying declaration…”choose this day whom you will serve….but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”. This will be my gift to you.  It’s a call to remove every last idol that stands between us and God, put a stake in the ground and declare…”WE WILL NOT GIVE OUR HEARTS TO ANOTHER…WE WILL ONLY SERVE THE LORD!!”

The Call time is 2:30pm and the address is One Public Square Nashville, TN 37201.

That promise never expired, it’s still good today. Honestly, I’m still learning how to honor my parents.
Romans 12:10 says for us to honor one another above yourselves. Have you ever felt dishonored? I sure have. So many times throughout my thirty-something years on this earth I have been dishonored by others, and I know how bad that feels. I want to learn everything I can about how I can honor others. In fact, I want to be apart of building a culture of honor that will inspire a movement. This is a very fresh thing that the Lord has placed on my heart so I am interested in what you can teach me about honor. If you can recommend a great book on honor, or have an inspiring testimony to share please do so. So, here we go! Lord, let your Spirit birth a movement of honor to sweep through the body of Christ!!

The man that spoke is the well known author of the book “Man in the Mirror”, Patrick Morely.  We were in the “green room”, which of course was not in any way green.  We were chit chatting on the couch, when all of the sudden he makes this statement…”Because God is good, my life hasn’t turned out the way I planned”.  It was one of the those moments where I was blown away.  I said, “you just summed up my whole life in that one statement”.  My life has definitely NOT turned out the way I planned.  Who knows where I’d be today if it had.  Maybe I wouldn’t even be here had He allowed me to have it my way.  He loves you and I way too much to leave us to our “best laid plans”.  Needless to say…I wrote a song based on that quote.  It was too good not to!  What do you guys think??
